Long-form work has problems short-form does not: a draft too big to hold in your head, revisions spread over months, and the constant risk of losing a version you wish you had kept. Writva is built around organizing, revising, and deliberately approving that kind of work.
Why a book is not just a longer article
A chatbot is a poor container for a manuscript. It has no structure — no chapters, no sense of where you are — so every request starts by re-explaining a project it cannot see. Revise chapter nine and it has no idea what chapter three established.
The failures that matter at book length are not sentence-level ones. They are losing a version you wanted back, discovering you explained the same idea twice in different words, and slowly editing the voice out of a manuscript over six months of passes.
Organize the project, not one enormous file
Book Builder holds a project as a binder of writing units. You choose the tier names — Parts and Chapters, Acts and Scenes, Units and Lessons — because a memoir and a textbook do not have the same shape. Each writing unit links to its own draft, so a chapter is a real thing you can open, reorder, or rename without touching the rest.
That structure is what makes the other features possible: you can revise one chapter without loading the whole book, and read the manuscript in order without assembling it by hand.
Revise without endangering the approved draft
Every piece of writing has a Stable Version — the approved draft — and an Edited Version where changes are proposed. Nothing overwrites the Stable Version until you Promote, and each promotion keeps the previous version in your Iteration History, where you can preview or restore it.
Over a long project this matters more than it sounds. The chapter you rewrote in March is still there in June when you decide the earlier version was closer to right.

Read the manuscript the way a reader would
Preview Flow reads the binder in order and shows the current approved draft of each unit as continuous manuscript, so you can check how chapters actually sit against each other rather than remembering. You can jump to a location, search for one by name, return to where you left off, and have it read aloud while you follow along.
Reading a manuscript in sequence is when repetition and pacing problems surface — the ones invisible while you work chapter by chapter.
Get a copy out for other people to read
When a draft is ready for a reader, you can export the selected manuscript — the whole book or specific chapters — as a Word document, Markdown, or plain text, or produce a review PDF through your browser’s print dialog. The export uses each unit’s current approved draft, in binder order.
These are review copies: files for beta readers, editors, and your own reading on paper. They are not typeset books.

- It does not produce print-ready or typeset books, and it does not handle publication layout, EPUB, ISBNs, or distribution to stores.
- It does not replace a human editor. It has no view on whether your book works.
- It does not verify facts, sources, or quotations.
- It does not guarantee it will catch every continuity error across a long manuscript.
- It cannot perfectly reproduce your voice — it shows you what changed so you can decide.
- It does not write your book for you, and it is not designed to.

Can Writva handle a book-length project?
Book Builder organizes a project into a binder of writing units — parts, chapters, sections, or whatever tier names you choose — and each unit links to its own draft. You work on one unit at a time rather than scrolling one enormous document.
What happens to my earlier drafts?
Promoting a revision updates the approved draft and keeps the previous one in your version history, so you can look back at what a chapter said three passes ago and restore it if you were right the first time.
Can I get the manuscript out of Writva?
Yes. You can export a selected manuscript for review as a Word document, Markdown, or plain text, and produce a review PDF through your browser's print dialog. These are review copies, not typeset or print-ready books.
Does Writva check my manuscript for continuity errors?
It can help you review the manuscript and ask questions about it, but it does not guarantee that it will catch every continuity problem, and it does not verify facts. Treat it as a reading aid, not a copy-editor.
